I meet monthly with a dear lady for lunch. She always wears a smile. I never know what is going to come out of her mouth. Full of history, wisdom and occasional Erma Bombeck or Maxine quips.
On our last visit, she dropped this on me while I was sipping tea. As soon as she was done, she laughed wildly and continued, right where we left off, with our previous conversation. Being with folks like this makes my world sing.
“I thought I should tell you I have become quite a frivolous old gal. I’m meeting five gentlemen most every day as soon as I wake up.
Will Power – he helps me get out of bed. When he leaves I go to see John.
Then Charley Horse comes along and when he is here, he takes a lot of my time and attention.
When he leaes, Arthur Ritis shows up and stays most of the day. He doesn’t like to stay in one place very long so he takes me from joint to joint.
After such a day I really am tired and glad to get in bed with Ben Gay! What a life!!”
