TIME is a Non-Renewable Resource.
Since childhood I have been keenly aware of “time”. One of my biggest pet peeves is not wasting time. Whether it’s a home improvement project or a new recipe, I usually ask myself, how can I best save time with this endeavor that I may have more of it to spend on weightier matters.
Have you ever felt an undercurrent of change and uncertainty in your soul? Has your mind ever felt shaky or unsure about your next steps or what next month or year would hold? Surely everyone has felt and experienced these things. Some people put a plan on paper and stay laser focused. No matter what comes up they reach that goal and that can be a good thing, Or not. Others of us start that way but things happen teaching us there’s a better road for our long-term good. Recently, I’ve experienced the latter. My road changed. Now I’m seeing the “good” but that wasn’t always crystal clear.
While spending endless hours of time driving and working, I watched “balance” slip away. I saw my passion weave in and out for what I was doing, be it professional or personal. I realized I had lost a lot of precious, non-renewable time unfocused on myself, therefore I had less to give to others. It wasn’t as if I woke up one day and had an epipheny. Rather, this realization was a slow, steady awareness of precious time gone but I wasn’t clear on how best to change things.
The change came when I decided it was time to fly or die (internally). Either walk out on faith and simplify life with joy, no matter the cost, or die inside.
I watch “Tiny House Nation” amongst “prepping” shows regularly. The uncluttered, yet prepared mindset is utterly fascinating and exciting to me. So much in fact, I decided to move in that direction and close the wellness center I loved dearly. A new chapter would begin and it would be challenging and rewarding in ways I have only dreamed of.
While taking time off to heal and rest I once again was hit in my thoughts of how precious time truly is. We are on this planet for a “snap of fingers, ten minutes tops in light of eternity”, that’s what I’ve always said. I need to make better use of my time, let go of matters that hold me down and move forward cleansing, simplifying and building healthier relations in all areas of life. This is my time to fly and I pray it is, or soon will be, yours too! Time is a Non-Renewable Resource. Just like water. We can’t “make” water. We are either given water from the heavens and earth, or not. Water will either flow richly on this planet or it will become more parched and depleted, no two ways about that statement of truth. More on that subject in a future article.
Managing Time. The act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. Clearly, we all have our own definition of “quality time” and this article is not about that discussion, rather about seeing the value of what we choose to do with our mind and actions in light of time being a non-renewable resource. Below are healthy steps I believe should be incorporated in daily living to maintain balance. Managing time with a view toward deepening relationships, building trust and having more time to give to others, all worthy goals. As we give, we get back!

How many times a day do you hear, “I’m so busy” or “I’m too busy”. “too busy” is a myth. People make time for the things that are important to them. Rarely does anyone make time to “phone” someone. The “new” communication is texting. As I stand and watch people in stores, restaurants, driving or even in church! Everyone is texting. It seems the time of sitting across from someone, looking in their eyes and having a full conversation is quickly disappearing. Unless you are retired, of course, and have plenty of time! (there’s humor in there somewhere as all my retired friends are more busy playing golf and traveling!)
Waiting in Time. Boy is this hard sometimes! We live in a “microwave” society of gotta have it now. When things don’t come as quick as desired, we have a tendency to “make it happen”. Many times that does not yield healthy results. I am often reminded:
“Waiting is not just about what I get at the end of the wait, but about who I become as I wait.”
Precious Time. Living in this very moment, not worried about tomorrow or living in the past is so key to a joyful life. Our lives are full of pain, sorrow and JOY! May be hold onto each moment with our children, loved ones and those who cross our path for time is precious. Recently watched two hummingbird babies hatch, grow and fly off. Every morning I would run to see them and was again reminded how precious time is. They were grown and gone in four weeks. I’ve watched caterpillars wrap themselves up so tight in a silk blanket then within weeks a beautiful butterfly eats its way out to fly into the sunshine! Our children grow so fast and are little sponges for information. May we choose to fill our time teaching them right from wrong, manners, solid foundations in pure love and kindness. Take advantage of every minute with them for they are our future.

Eternity of Time. Here there is no ending of time, how comforting I find that truth. Knowing that throughout all eternity I am secure in a loving place with no more tears, no more sorrows and no more bills! Surrounded with pureness and glory, something that is available to every human. Let’s choose, while here on this earth, to strive to be a better example of the things that will count for good as we move closer to eternal time.
